Perhaps there was a momentary glitch, but I checked the link and it works.

I wear goggles (ANSI-rated) all the time to protect my eyes and to protect my prescription eyeglasses. I don’t care that they are a little goofy looking. Because they fit over my glasses, they have tons of ventilation so they NEVER fog up. Folks, remember that most hits actually come from deflections off your own paddle or your partners paddle, so you don’t even see it coming. Thank you Sarah for always discussing great topics.

I went to my optometrist and purchased a pair of safety glasses in my prescription . I added transition lenses so I can wear them outside as well. I have been hit 6 times now in the face mostly by deflections from my partner’s paddle or mine. Saves my regular glasses from ruin. 🙂

I recently found protective eyewear at walmart for 5 dollars, both in clear and shades. It was in the home improvement section. Best 10 dollars you ever spent if it saves your eyes!

If you can’t find prescription sports glasses that are comfortable, ask a professional to check the glasses you are already wearing to ensure they are as safe as possible.

All pickleballs are plastic with holes in them. Unfortunately, there have been many reported accidents including vision loss from this type of injury. Good luck.

After reading an article about detached retinas I started wearing safety glasses indoors and also gave a pair to my lady partner. It wasn’t a week later when she got hit hard right smack in the eye and there was no problem. One lady we gave the safety lecture to refused to wear any glasses and guess who went to the ER for an eye injury a few months later. Eeyup. You only get one set of eyes so don’t be stupid

During that same time, I accidentally hit an opponent in the glasses once and in the face once. We also play with a plastic ball with holes in it. I believe safety glasses are not necessary.

Additionally, I used to wear them when playing basketball (flying elbows, big dudes), but I did find them to adversely affect my peripheral vision.

I would love to not use my regular glasses to play but most prescription sport glasses are clunky and uncomfortable
